We are excited to announce that Farmscape's yield tracker has just crossed the 10,000 mark, meaning that by our estimates we have grown more than ten thousand pounds of fresh produce for our clients in their own yards.
Bear in mind that we only track organically cultivated annuals, a hard-won harvest. Our yield tally does not include easy poundage from tree fruit or bush fruit. Nor do we score yields from other low-maintenance perennials or hands-free field grains. We do not enjoy the simple success afforded by synthetic pesticides or Miracle Gro. Nor do we employ the assistance of robots. The best summary of the accomplishment might be that in less than two years of business, we have grown no less than ten thousand pounds of finicky annuals tended by legal, local, human labor in front and back yards all over Los Angeles. We probably grew enough tomatoes to crush a car. The internet informs me that an empty semi-truck weighs on average about ten thousand pounds. My research suggests that our harvest total outweighs a bull elephant, though our yield rate right now would not adequately feed an elephant.
Still: ten thousand pounds. Our service staff does great work, and I'd like to dedicate the achievement to them. It's an exciting number to contemplate. But we are mindful that it is just a beginning. We dream of maintaining 10,000 gardens. There are so many uncultivated yards out there, awaiting their subscription farmer. We aim to keep growing.
