Truck Vegetables

A Vocabulary Lesson

Farmscape primarily grows "truck vegetables," so named because traditionally they were the small fruits and vegetables that farmers would bring to market by truck from their small farms at the edges of town. Back in simpler times when the edge of town was maybe five, ten, or fifteen minutes away. Back before megacities.

Truck Vegetable Harvest
The category of truck vegetables includes: salad greens like lettuce, spinach, or arugula; cooking greens like chard and kale; tubers and root crops like turnips or carrots; legumes like beans in summer or peas in winter; summer vining fruit like peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, and melons; brassica like broccoli and brussel sprouts; and aromatic bulbs like garlic and onions.

Ten Thousand Pounds

A Food Milestone

10,000 Pounds of Homegrown ProduceWe are excited to announce that Farmscape's yield tracker has just crossed the 10,000 mark, meaning that by our estimates we have grown more than ten thousand pounds of fresh produce for our clients in their own yards.
