School Garden Video
Last weekend, as part of the Mar Vista Green Garden Showcase, Farmscape helped build a new bed for the Windward School Garden. Samantha Lyon, who administers the Windward school put together this excellent little video about the garden. You can watch the video using the link below.

Farmscape Profiled by LA Times
LA Times columnist Emily Green published an article about our work with school gardens today. We would like to thank her for her diligent research in putting together the piece. We are particularly excited that the article captured the different approaches that Segray Preschool and San Jose Edison Academy took toward incorporating the garden in the classroom. There are some very hard-working people at both locations that have played vital roles in making those projects successes.
We believe that our "build-it, plant-it, tend-it package" makes it easy for over-burdened teachers, administrators and parents to have a successful school garden.

Jamie Oliver in Los Angeles
After working to improve school lunches in Hungtington, WV during the show's first season, he is looking to work with LA schools this season. LAUSD has so far declined to allow him into the schools.
Some of us at Farmscape spent the afternoon at an event he was holding in his new Westwood kitchen. We had the opportunity to speak with Jamie briefly and extended an offer to build vegetable gardens for the show.
We would love to do more school gardens, we enjoy the opportunity to work with kids, teachers, and parents. To date, we have assisted eight schools with different combinations of garden support: consulting, design, installation, and maintenance. More importantly, each school has been really happy with the results. If you know a school that could use a garden or maybe has a garden that could use maintenance, please let us know by sending an email to schools@farmscapegardens.com.
