STEM Kitchen & Garden

Commercial Project

Project Summary

STEM Kitchen & Garden serves Warriors fans with sweeping views of the Bay prior to the games next door at Chase Center. Fans can enjoy farm salads featuring radicchio, butter lettuce and fresh herbs while watching hummingbirds pollinate the crops. Our farm team recommends trying the fruity “shrubs”: non-alcoholic, vinegar-based cocktails that feature the guava, meyer lemon and blueberries grown on-site.

Project Goals

  • Create the perfect urban farm backdrop for this popular restaurant and event rental space
  • Grow unbelievably fresh organic produce for busy, high-end restaurant kitchen with a rotating seasonal menu
  • Be part of the show! Our maintenance team is working during lunch service so patrons can ask questions and observe the work that goes into organic farming.
Sunflowers, peppers and eggplant support the on-site cafe

We built on the previous work done by BAVA & Associate, who had originally designed the space as an ornamental garden. We added in our custom soil blend, updated the irrigation and have provided custom crop plans seasonally ever since to support the thriving restaurant.

It looks like Napa, but this vast urban farm sits on top of a parking garage in Mission Bay

“We have worked with Farmscape for almost a decade on the STEM kitchen garden, and they manage to surprise us every year with the fantastic variety and quality of produce they grow. Our space always looks fabulous for parties and events and the staff is really fun to work with!”
