Core Agrihood

Multi-Family Project

Project Summary

Farmscape is proud to be the farm partner on this groundbreaking multigenerational agrihood project in Santa Clara. Over a decade of planning, we have contributed to the design, installation, maintenance and programming. The farm supports not just senior housing, but local cafes, residents, pollinators and pets. This public-facing Agrihood opened in July 2023!

Project Goals

  • Create a community agriculture hub celebrating the agricultural heritage of The Valley of Heart’s Delight
  • Provide a “multigenerational hangout” space for the senior affordable building, market rate townhomes and mixed income building residents to congregate
  • Grow organic food for local residents
  • Support local business with fresh produce and flowers
The water tower collects rainwater from the buildings and surfaces and redirects it to the farm, instead of the ocean

Farmscape joined this project team in 2015, and contributed to every phase from design through maintenance and programming. We coordinated with Joni L Janecki and Associates and Steinberg Hart to nestle the farm into the larger site design. In addition, we worked with Watersprout to customize a rainwater irrigation system.

“We worked with Farmscape for many years developing this project and each of their teams-design, installation and farm maintenance-are all exceptional.”
