Replacing a traditional sloped lawn, the new design introduces geometric raised flower beds, layered perennial planting, and low-water groundcover that bring structure, color, and seasonal abundance to the property while maintaining a welcoming relationship with the neighborhood.

Seven raised flower beds filled with seasonal blooms create a colorful, productive landscape designed for gathering, flower cutting, and everyday enjoyment. Lavender lines the front edge of the property, adding fragrance and softness while maintaining openness to the sidewalk and surrounding neighborhood.

The traditional lawn was replaced with Kurapia, a low-water, mow-free groundcover that softens the space while reducing maintenance and water use. Throughout the project, the design carefully balances sustainability, functionality, and historic preservation requirements to create a landscape that feels vibrant, approachable, and deeply connected to the people who use it.
