Project Goals

From the street, the front yard creates a welcoming first impression through reclaimed brick paving, layered planting, and a custom entry arbor that defines the transition from public to private space. Beyond the gates, the landscape unfolds through raised vegetable beds, flagstone garden paths, and a drought-tolerant no-mow lawn, creating a family garden that feels both productive and deeply inviting.

Thoughtfully layered materials guide visitors through the property, connecting the home’s architecture with edible gardens and outdoor living spaces while making the compact landscape feel larger, more cohesive, and more connected to everyday life.
Design Process
The design began by addressing the property’s greatest challenge: creating a clear transition between the public street and the family’s private outdoor spaces. A custom wood arbor and gated entry establish that threshold, creating both security and a welcoming sense of arrival.

Material transitions reinforce the experience of moving through the landscape. Reclaimed brick complements the home’s architecture before giving way to flagstone paths that weave through the productive garden. Beyond the raised beds, a drought-tolerant no-mow lawn creates flexible space for family life and play.
Together, these elements create a natural progression from public entry to private family garden, making the compact property feel cohesive, welcoming, and connected.
